ABOUT R. ANDREW HUNT

R. Andrew Hunt (also known as Andy Hunt) has been writing songs since 1982. His music is influenced by a wide variety of styles and his lyrics cover a range of topics, emotions and story telling.

Andy got his first acoustic guitar from a Portland, Oregon pawnshop for his 18th birthday in 1981. He had it converted to a lefty guitar, and that began a lifelong journey of making music and songwriting.

Over the years has performed his songs as a solo artist and many bands on the west coast and east coast. As much as he would have liked to explore a full-time music career from his youth, after college, Andy chose a the steady work of a career as a professional social worker. All the while, he continued to write and play music "on the side." In 2021, Andy retired from a 30 year career as a Commissioned Officer in the U.S. Public Health Service, which opened the door to spend more time on his music. He currently lives in Mount Airy, Maryland.
